The Food People and Food House are an accurate representation of my obsession with food, and more specifically sugar. I believe that we are what we eat. Food is fuel for our bodies, but it doesn’t just give us energy, it can also impact our moods. When we eat something sweet or sugary, it produces dopamine, the feel-good hormone and serotonin, the happiness hormone.

As a person with ADHD and lower levels of dopamine, I used to turn to food to bring me a boost of positivity. But this boost came with a comedown too and most of all, I was addicted to sugar. In 2022, I took the bold decision to free myself and to let go of sugar. I replaced the usual sweets in my bag by a sketchbook. I no longer experience mood swings and my creativity went through the ceiling!

I believe that we’ve all got some kind of ‘sugar’ which impedes our creativity. What is your sugar?
